Dr. Rajinderpal (Raj) Singh, MD, brings more than 15 years of diverse clinical experience across county mental health systems, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, university hospitals/ academic training programs, and private practice. This extensive background aims to make patients feel confident that they are receiving knowledgeable, comprehensive, and expert psychiatric care.

Dr. Singh completed his residency in General Psychiatry at the University of Hawai‘i John A. Burns School of Medicine and his fellowship in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the University of Toledo Medical Center. His work has been recognized with multiple honors, including the Excellent Medical Student Teacher of the Year Award, the Outstanding First-Year Resident Physician Award, and a Certificate of Appreciation from the Virginia Department of Health for his service during the COVID-19 pandemic. His early practice as a primary care physician in India influences his holistic, integrative, and culturally attuned approach to care, helping patients feel understood and valued.

Dr. Singh takes a personalized, thoughtful, and collaborative approach with every patient. During the initial session, he focuses on understanding each person’s unique medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, family and social context, and current concerns. He then works closely with individuals and their families to create a tailored treatment plan. His clinical expertise spans child development, ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, autism spectrum disorders, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma and PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, body dysmorphic disorder, addictions (including opioids, alcohol, gaming, and internet use), school and cyberbullying, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, and both cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic psychotherapy. He is committed to culturally competent, trauma-informed, and developmentally sensitive care for patients of all ages.

Dr. Singh’s academic and research interests include improving access to mental health services, advancing personalized medicine, promoting cultural competence, and developing bullying and cyberbullying prevention strategies. He has published in peer-reviewed journals, including Academic Psychiatry, on the use of technology, collective intelligence, and community engagement to improve access to mental health care—particularly in underserved communities.

Fluent in English, Russian, Hindi, and Punjabi, with working knowledge of Urdu, Dr. Singh’s communication skills and compassionate approach help patients and colleagues feel welcomed, understood, and supported. He has extensive experience working with diverse populations and is committed to providing culturally competent, trauma-informed, and developmentally sensitive care for patients of all ages, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where meaningful therapeutic work can begin.

Joyce Akrong, PMHNP-BC, is a warm, approachable Adult Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who specializes in supporting adults facing depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, trauma, and other emotional challenges. With over 5 years of experience, I focus on truly listening, understanding your story, and working with you to create a treatment plan that fits your life, values, and goals.

In sessions, Dr. Joyce Akrong combines thoughtful medication management with practical tools from therapy, such as coping skills, stress reduction, and lifestyle support, so you are not relying on medications alone. I explain options in clear, down-to-earth language and encourage questions, so you feel informed and in control of your care.

Angel Bacon

DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CCM

Angel Bacon, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, CCM, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and healthcare leader with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare, including over 18 years in nursing practice. She currently serves as a Family Nurse Practitioner and Medical Director in a rural setting, where she is dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care that emphasizes prevention, chronic disease management, and whole-person wellness.

Dr. Bacon earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Health Systems Leadership from Chamberlain College of Nursing, a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain College of Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing–Nurse Educator from Liberty University, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Liberty University. She began her nursing career after completing her Registered Nurse diploma at Bon Secours Memorial School of Nursing.

Her clinical background spans emergency nursing, family medicine, population and community health, care coordination, quality improvement, and case management. She is a Certified Case Manager and has extensive experience leading interdisciplinary teams, implementing value-based care initiatives, and improving patient outcomes across diverse care settings.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Bacon has more than a decade of experience in nursing education and has served as a professor, program chair, and curriculum coordinator. She has contributed to the development of innovative nursing programs and has advanced through academic ranks while mentoring future healthcare professionals. Her scholarship focuses on health equity, social determinants of health, diversity and inclusion in nursing education, and improving transitions to practice.

Her clinical interests include obesity management, anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use disorders, and comprehensive primary care across the lifespan.

Known for her collaborative approach and commitment to patient-centered care, Dr. Bacon is passionate about partnering with individuals and families to help them achieve their best possible health.
